HOUSTON -- Two hours before first pitch, the Astros announced outfielder Josh Reddick was scratched from Friday's 4-1 victory over the Indians because of "left leg irritation."
Derek Fisher replaced Reddick in the lineup, batting seventh and playing center field with George Springer sliding over to right field. It is unclear how severe Reddick's injury may be or if he will be available in either of the Astros' remaining two games of the series versus Cleveland.
"Reddick came up to me as we were going out to [batting practice] and said he had a little bit of leg soreness," said Astros manager AJ Hinch. "I'm not really sure what it is. It's on the outside of his leg. But it was pretty easy to scratch him. I don't want him out there. ... He was available in an emergency. It wasn't an emergency yet. We'll see how he wakes up [Saturday] and how he feels."
Reddick, the Astros' primary right fielder, has played in 40 of Houston's 45 games prior to Friday. With two outfield assists Tuesday against the Angels, Reddick joined Angels outfielder Kole Calhoun at the top of MLB's leaderboard with six outfield assists this season. That number already matches his total from 134 games in 2017.
Reddick has scored in four straight games, tying the second-longest streak of his career.
