Lance Berkman
Class of 2020 | 17 • 1B | 1999-2010
One of the greatest pure hitters in baseball over his 15-year Major League career, Lance Berkman was a five-time All-Star in 12 seasons with Houston, including four seasons in which he finished in the top-five of the National League MVP voting. A first-round pick by the Astros out of Rice University in 1997, Berkman went on to become the Astros all-time leader in career on-base percentage (.410) slugging percentage (.549) and OPS (.959). Berkman, affably known as “Big Puma” during his time in Houston, helped lead the Astros to three playoff appearances, including the club’s first appearance in the World Series in 2005.
