The inaugural Minute Maid Park Marathon will be held on Sunday, November 18. The race, which starts at 7:00am, will give runners the opportunity to circle the field the Astros play on, running more than 100 times around the warning track for that 26.2 miles, all to benefit the Astros Foundation and the Houston Marathon Foundation.
The race will be USATF certified. Each runner will run 112-116 laps (distance TBD upon official measurement), counted electronically, along the warning track of Minute Maid Park. Spectators will be allowed into the park to watch the race. All participants will receive a unique race shirt and one-of-a-kind finisher's medal, not to mention bragging rights as one of the very first participants to ever run a marathon totally within Minute Maid Park.
Due to space constraints, the maximum number of runners will be 75 on a first-come, first-served basis. Although there is no entry fee, there is an Astros Foundation/Houston Marathon Foundation fundraising requirement minimum of $4,000 for each participant. Official entries will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis until the field size of 75 is reached.
