Angels sign INF Nicky Lopez

ANAHEIM – The Angels today agreed to a one-year, $850,000 contract with INF Nicky Lopez.

Lopez, 30, played in 124 games for the White Sox in 2024, and batted .241 (96/398) with 40 runs scored, 16 extra-base hits and 21 RBI. Defensively, Lopez appeared in 76 games at second base and in 40 games at shortstop, and converted 433 of 437 chances in the field. He was named as a finalist for the A.L. Gold Glove Award at second base and his 15.1% strikeout rate ranked in the 88th percentile of all qualified Major League players in 2024.

A native of Naperville, IL, Lopez was originally selected by Kansas City in the fifth round of the 2016 Draft out of Creighton University and made his Major League debut with the Royals in 2019. In six Major League seasons, he has compiled a .248 (521/2104) career average with 83 doubles, 18 triples, seven home runs and 152 RBI across 670 games with the Royals (2019-23), Braves (2023) and White Sox (2024).
