The Yankees farm system is believed to be significantly top heavy. With top prospects Anthony Volpe, Oswald Peraza and Jasson Domínguez garnering all of the attention -- especially since the organization traded its top arms at the Trade Deadline last month -- there aren't many other names that come to mind when thinking of future-star potential within New York's system. But, Oswaldo Cabrera has been doing his best lately to change that narrative.

Making his first appearance on the Pipeline Prospect Team of The Week -- and at a position that might raise a few eyebrows -- Cabrera displayed the talent that has kept him a steady riser through the Yankees organization, albeit quietly. However, there's nothing quiet about his performance this month. The Guarenas, Venezuela, native is batting .405/.465/.622 with four extra-base hits, nine RBIs and four runs scored over 11 games with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in August.

To be eligible for the Pipeline Prospect Team of the Week, Minor League players must be ranked among their club's Top 30 prospects on Pipeline's lists. (Those in the Majors do not qualify.)

This is the Prospect Team of the Week for Aug. 8-14:

Catcher: Logan O'Hoppe, Rocket City Trash Pandas (Double-A)
Angels No. 1, MLB No. 83

It is the third appearance on the Pipeline Prospect Team of the Week for O'Hoppe, and his first as a member of the Angels. Dealt from the Phillies in the Brandon Marsh deal, O'Hoppe wasted little time making an impact with his new club. The righty-swinging backstop went yard for his first hit with the Trash Pandas in his second game before notching a multihomer game on Tuesday. In fact, the 22-year-old's first four hits as a member of the Angels were all home runs. O'Hoppe finished the week strong, collecting a hit in each of his past four games, racking up six knocks and six RBIs over that span. He was batting .275/.392/.496 with 15 homers, a triple, 11 doubles, 48 runs scored and 45 RBIs in 75 games with Double-A Reading when he was dealt.

1B: Kyle Manzardo, Montgomery Biscuits (Double-A)

Manzardo makes his second Team of the Week appearance in three weeks after another stellar output. Manzardo was promoted to Double-A Montgomery on Tuesday and spent the week in the Southern League for the first time in his career. Still, the new level did nothing to slow down the lefty-swinging first baseman. Manzardo collected seven hits through his first five games with the Biscuits, including a dinger and a pair of doubles, while driving in seven runs and scoring three times. He's reached base safely in every game with Montgomery and has recorded a hit in all but one contest -- the nightcap of a doubleheader on Thursday, but he was still productive in that game with a pair of walks and an RBI. The 22-year-old posted a .329/.436/.636 slash line with 17 homers, a triple, 16 doubles, 55 RBIs and 53 runs scored in 63 games with High-A Bowling Green to start the season.

2B: Edouard Julien, Wichita Wind Surge (Double-A)

This is Julien's first Team of the Week appearance of the season, but if this performance is any indication of things to come it certainly won't be his last. The 2019 18th-round Draft selection of the Twins basically hit everything for the Wind Surge. The Auburn product produced three games with at least three hits and notched four knocks -- including a home run -- and reached base five times with a walk on Saturday. Over his past two games, Julien is 7-for-9 with a dinger, two doubles, five RBIs, four runs scored and a stolen base. The lefty swinger is batting .408/.473/.673 with six extra-base hits, nine RBIs and eight runs scored over 12 games in August.

3B: Shay Whitcomb, Corpus Christi Hooks (Double-A)

After garnering Team of the Week honors during the final week of last season, Whitcomb makes his first appearance of the year this week. The speedy infielder, who struggled through the early part of the season, seems to have really turned a corner since the calendar turned to August. Whitcomb entered the month batting .199/.269/.345, but a torrid stretch over the past two weeks -- particularly last week -- has put an uptick in those numbers. The 23-year-old hit safely in five straight games this past week, including three straight multihit efforts, and was 3-for-3 in stolen base attempts. He also recorded his first multihomer game of the year on Friday. Whitcomb is sporting a .325/.400/.600 slash line with two homers, a triple, three doubles, five walks, eight runs scored, five RBIs and five swipes in August.

SS: Kyren Paris, Tri-City Dust Devils (High-A)

Although plagued by injuries for most of his pro career since being drafted in the second round in 2019 by the Angels, Paris' ability with a clean bill of health was on full display this past week. After a brief two-game stint with the Arizona Complex League Angels to open the month, Paris returned to the lineup for the Dust Devils on Tuesday and made sure everyone knew he was back. The 20-year-old hit safely in all six games he played in this past week, posting three multihit efforts and showing off that speed that made him so highly regarded by Angels brass, notching three triples while going 2-for-2 on stolen base attempts. Paris has five triples and is 26-for-29 on stolen base attempts in 79 games with Tri-City this season.

OF: Joshua Mears, Fort Wayne TinCaps (High-A)

A name very familiar to fans of the Team of the Week award, Mears makes his fifth appearance on the list over the past two seasons -- three last year and this is his second of this season. It was an extra effort for the 21-year-old, who racked up 19 total bases on six extra-base hits and scored five times. After spending June and most of July with the Arizona Complex League Padres, Mears returned to the TinCaps on July 26 and began to regain his form. He batted .269/.296/.500 over the final six games of July and has propelled that into a breakout August. Over 11 games this month, the 2019 second-round Draft selection has posted a .351/.385/.784 slash line with four home runs, four doubles, eight RBIs and seven runs scored.

OF: Moisés Gómez, Memphis Redbirds (Triple-A)

Another first timer on the Team of the Week, Gómez was a smorgasbord of production for Triple-A Memphis this past week. The 23-year-old entered the week having gone hitless in his previous two games, but didn't waste any time getting right again at the plate. Gómez hit safely in five games, posting three multihit contests, and notched at least one extra-base hit four times. In the nightcap of a doubleheader on Thursday, the Caracas, Venezuela, native clubbed his seventh dinger at Triple-A and doubled to cap off a four-hit day (across both games). Gómez finished the week with his ninth tater in the International League and 32nd of the year. After being released by the Rays organization following last season, Gómez was signed by the Cardinals in November and opened the year at Double-A Springfield. After posting a .321/.401/.705 slash line with 23 homers, 54 RBIs and 53 runs scored, the right-handed-hitting slugger was promoted to Memphis on June 28.

Yes, this is not a typo, Cabrera made the list as an outfielder. The 23-year-old, who spent his entire pro career as an infielder, played three career games in the outfield and two of those came last week. The other was during a rehab assignment with Single-A Tampa in early July. But with a need for outfield depth at the big league level, this might just be the beginning of a trend for Cabrera, whose best ticket to The Show will be patrolling the outfield grass in the Bronx. Of course, the motivation will be to have his bat in the everyday lineup. Cabrera has been a consistently solid player on both sides of the ball his entire career, and the switch-hitter found a new gear of late. Cabrera hit safely in all six games he played last week, including posting four multihit efforts while extending his active hitting streak to seven games. He set a career high with 10 total bases on Sunday when he homered and tripled twice while driving in three runs and scoring three times.

LHP: Nick Swiney, Eugene Emeralds (High-A)

In a season marred by inconsistency, there was nothing inconsistent about what Swiney did on the bump on Friday. The 23-year-old left tossed five perfect frames against Vancouver to help pave the way for an Emeralds victory. Swiney struck out eight and of the seven outs he recorded not via the K, only two made it beyond the infield. He exited after throwing 42 of his 63 pitches for strikes. Despite an inflated 3.41 ERA over 17 games (16 starts) this season with High-A Eugene, the NC State product is sporting a 1.14 WHIP and a .179 average against with 91 punchouts over 74 innings pitched this year.

RHP: Reese Olson, Erie SeaWolves (Double-A)

After finishing last season with five starts at Double-A, Olson pitched well enough to start this year with the SeaWolves and his early results were mostly solid. However, the 2018 13th-round Draft pick of the Brewers began to struggle towards the end of June and his previous seven starts entering last Friday did not resemble the pitcher he was at the start of the year. That changed quickly for the righty as he looked like his usual self against New Hampshire, navigating through six scoreless frames with ease while striking out 10. Olson retired the first six batters he faced before issuing a leadoff walk in the third. Still, a double play erased that runner and Olson faced the minimum over 3 1/3 frames. A one out single in the fourth was his only other blemish of the night as he set down the final eight batters he faced -- fanning five. The effort lowered Olson's ERA to 4.40 over 21 games (20 starts) this season, while amassing 130 strikeouts over 92 innings pitched.

RP: Edgar Barclay, Hudson Valley Renegades (High-A)

Something clicked for Barclay at the end of July and the lefty has not allowed a run over his past five appearances (10 2/3 innings pitched). He was especially electric over his two outings last week. The 24-year-old worked around a hit and a walk on Wednesday to post 2 1/3 scoreless frames while whiffing three. He was even better on Saturday. In fact, he was perfect. Barclay entered the game with two outs in the seventh and struck out the first four batters he faced. After a pair of flyouts, the 2019 15th-round Draft selection notched his fifth K to end the game. Barclay is sporting a 1.75 ERA, a 0.95 WHIP and a .191 average against with 63 strikeouts and 15 walks over 51 1/3 frames with High-A Hudson Valley this year.
