Angels left fielder Justin Upton left Friday’s 6-2 win over the Rangers in the seventh inning after being hit on the helmet with a 94 mph fastball from reliever Demarcus Evans. Upton was able to walk back to the dugout under his own power but was replaced by pinch-runner Jo Adell.

Angels manager Joe Maddon delivered good news after the game, but Upton will undergo more tests as a precaution.

"I'm hearing from good reports from the trainers," Maddon said. "He was fine. I mean, laying on the ground there, then you get hit like that you have no idea what's going on. And then he started to be able to feel everything properly and he was well. Of course, he was shaken up. I'm getting reports that everything seems to be in order, but there will be more tests done. So we may have got lucky there in that particular moment."

It was a scary moment for Upton, who has been swinging the bat well recently. Upton was 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored prior to leaving the game. The 33-year-old is hitting .326 (15-for-46) with three homers, three doubles and 10 RBIs in 13 games this month.
