Cowgill went back to Kentucky home to mend
Collin Cowgill, OF, Angels
Hometown: Lexington, Ky.
Earlier this season, after a freak injury sidelined him, Cowgill just needed a few days at home. In mid-July, Cowgill was hit in the hand and face by a pitch as he tried to bunt, fracturing his thumb and his nose and forcing him to make a trip to the disabled list. So Cowgill went back to his home in Lexington, Ky., and he spent some time in familiar surroundings before returning to the Angels.
That makes sense since Cowgill spent most of his life playing baseball in Lexington.
Cowgill attended Henry Clay High School, then played at the University of Kentucky -- a two-mile ride from Henry Clay. He became an All-American performer as a Wildcat and was ultimately selected in the fifth round of the 2008 First-Year Draft.
