Texas Rangers Youth Academy falls short of World Series bid in MLB RBI Southwest Regional Tournament Championship
DALLAS — The MLB RBI Southwest Regional Tournament has concluded, and three champions were crowned in the final day of play at the Texas Rangers Youth Academy. Both Rangers RBI Softball and 18U Baseball teams fell to Astros RBI in today's championship games.
Rangers RBI Softball lost, 17-0, in six innings. Astros pitcher Bella De Los Santos kept the Rangers’ bats at bay, throwing a complete-game shutout.
Rangers RBI 18U Senior Baseball lost to Astros RBI, 12-1, in five innings. Designated hitter and Grambling State University commit Chris Marcellus had the Rangers’ lone RBI, and Oklahoma University commit Austin Phillips scored the team’s only run.
In the 15U Baseball division, NOLA YA RBI topped Austin RBI 7-2.
The 2022 RBI Southwest Regional Champions will compete in the MLB RBI World Series in Vero Beach, Fla., next month.
