#SandlotToTheShow to stream live across MLB Network's social platforms on Tuesday, Dec. 15, at 7 p.m. ET
Dec. 10, 2020 – For the first time ever, baseball fans can participate in a digital, interactive lesson from MLB Network analysts when #SandlotToTheShow streams live across MLB Network’s social platforms and MLB.com on Tuesday, Dec. 15, at 7 p.m. ET.
Hosted by Robert Flores, the stream will feature MLB Network analysts Sean Casey, Ron Darling, Mark DeRosa, Ryan Dempster, Cliff Floyd, Carlos Peña, Bill Ripken and Dave Valle providing youth players individualized feedback and instruction on videos featuring them hitting, fielding, pitching and catching. Using the hashtag #SandlotToTheShow and tagging @MLBNetwork, parents and kids can currently submit their videos to Instagram and Twitter for a chance to be featured on Tuesday’s stream. In addition to offering tips for improvement, the eight analysts will engage in a real time Q&A with fans, kids, parents and coaches who submit their baseball instruction questions within the live stream. The #SandlotToTheShow stream will be available on MLB Network’s Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Twitch accounts as well as MLB.com.
“I always enjoy diving into #SandlotToTheShow as it brings me back to my youth and learning how to play this great game by imitating my childhood heroes in the backyard,” said DeRosa. “I look forward to Tuesday’s live stream as it’s another way to engage our fans and hopefully share a tip or two that we’ve picked up along the way.”
Tuesday’s interactive live stream will build off the #SandlotToTheShow campaign, which began in 2019 and has been featured throughout MLB Network’s on-air studio shows, including on MLB Tonight in November. By the conclusion of 2020, MLB Network analysts will have provided individualized feedback to more than 600 youth baseball and softball players across the country. Special guests have also participated in #SandlotToTheShow, including National Baseball Hall of Fame electees Derek Jeter and Larry Walker, three-time National League MVP Award winner Albert Pujols, Chicago White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson, San Diego Padres shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr., three-time MLB All-Star Curtis Granderson and Team USA softball players Monica Abbott, Dejah Mulipola and Kelsey Stewart.
#SandlotToTheShow most recently won a 2020 National Sports Emmy Award in the Social TV Experience category, marking the first time MLB Network has won in that category.
