MLB ballparks exceed one million vaccinations administered

With Major League Baseball’s 2021 Opening Day nearly upon us, the Major League Clubs that have served as mass vaccination sites for the public during the off-season recently passed one million total vaccine doses administered across the United States.

The 11 Major League ballparks that Clubs converted to mass vaccination sites to meet needs in their communities are:

The vaccination program is part of a continuing effort by MLB, its Clubs and Players to provide assistance to those in need. Collectively, MLB, the Clubs and Players have donated more than $75 million, benefiting members of the baseball community, healthcare and frontline workers, families affected by cancer, people in need of food through Meals on Wheels and Feeding America, domestic violence prevention organizations, the citizens of the Dominican Republic and other important causes. MLB and its Clubs have distributed and analyzed more than 20,000 free COVID-19 PCR tests for schools, youth academies, charities and other community organizations in Arlington, Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Cincinnati, Fresno, Miami, New Orleans, New York, Salt Lake City, Tampa and tour stops of The Players Alliance.

Commissioner of Baseball Robert D. Manfred, Jr. said: “Major League Baseball, our Clubs and Major League Players have worked hand-in-hand with communities across the U.S. and Canada during the pandemic. I commend the Clubs that have hosted vaccination and testing at their ballparks and all of our franchises for promoting health and safety in our communities. Most importantly, MLB is grateful to the countless heroes who are lifting up our society and helping us reach the better days ahead.”

MLB was proud to join the nation’s other sports leagues in supporting the Ad Council and COVID Collaborative on the launch of a new campaign, “It’s Up To You,” which encourages fans to visit GetVaccineAnswers.org for the latest information about the COVID-19 vaccines.
