Atlanta Braves name former Gwinnett Stripers public address announcer Kevin Kraus the next ‘Voice of the Braves’
ATLANTA (February 24, 2023) – Out of nearly 500 hopefuls, the Atlanta Braves have named former Gwinnett Stripers Public Address (PA) Announcer Kevin Kraus the next ‘Voice of the Braves.’ A native of Bethlehem, GA, Kraus was surprised with the news on a video call with Braves pitcher Spencer Strider and Braves Radio Network Announcer Ben Ingram.
“It’s a dream come true,” Kraus said when told he would be the new PA announcer.
Kraus has served as the PA Announcer for the Braves’ Triple-A affiliate, the Gwinnett Stripers for the last ten years. After graduating from the University of Georgia in 2011, Kraus has worked in the Metro-Atlanta sports community in various PA Announcer roles including at Mercedes-Benz Stadium for the Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta United, the Atlanta Gladiators, and the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl. Most recently, Kraus acted as the voice of Rugby ATL, Atlanta’s Major League Rugby team.
The search for to find the new Braves PA announcer began in October 2022 and included online and in-person auditions. Last week, Braves fans voted for their favorite PA Announcer finalist, which counted as one of eight total votes on the Braves PA Selection Committee.
Kraus’ first game behind the microphone will be Thursday, April 6 as the Braves celebrate their home opener versus the San Diego Padres at 7:20 p.m.
