Red Sox Select 10 Players on Final Day of 2024 MLB First-Year Player Draft

BOSTON, MA - The Boston Red Sox today concluded their participation in the 2024 MLB First-Year Player Draft with 10 additional selections in rounds 11-20.

With their 19th-round selection (No. 567 overall), Boston selected third baseman D'Angelo Ortiz out of Miami Dade College-Kendall. He is the son of three-time World Series Champion David Ortiz, who played for the Red Sox from 2003-16 and was inducted into the Red Sox Hall of Fame in 2020 and the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2022.

Over the three days of the draft, Boston selected nine right-handed pitchers, four left-handed pitchers, four outfielders, one catcher, one third baseman, and one two-way player. Of the 20 players drafted, 18 are from college and two are from high school.
