Red Sox announce first Alumni Game at Fenway Park in 25 years

The Red Sox today announced that the club will host an alumni game at Fenway Park on Sunday, May 27, nearly 25 years to the day of the last alumni game held at the ballpark. The three-inning game is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m., preceding the 1:05 p.m. Red Sox-Braves game. Fans with tickets to the May 27 game at Fenway Park are invited to attend.   
Dwight Evans and Luis Tiant will act as managers for the two teams, with 25 other alums scheduled to participate. Former players making their on-field return to Fenway Park include Wade Boggs, Oil Can Boyd, Orlando Cabrera, Scott Cooper, Jim Corsi, Lenny DiNardo, Alan Embree, Rich Garces, Jonny Gomes, Mike Greenwell, Sam Horn, Chris Howard, Bill Lee, Darren Lewis, Steve Lomasney, Derek Lowe, Mike Lowell, Julio Lugo, Steve Lyons, Keith MacWhorter, Pedro Martinez, Lou Merloni, Rick Miller, Mike Myers, and Troy O'Leary. 
Fenway Park gates A, C, and D will open starting at 10 a.m. for the alumni game. Will call windows at those same gates will open starting at 9:30 a.m.   
 
The last alumni game played at Fenway Park was held on Saturday, May 29, 1993. The game featured a number of Red Sox greats, including Jim Lonborg, Jim Rice, and Carl Yastrzemski, playing a team of "Upper Deck Heroes" including Ernie Banks, Vida Blue, and Cesar Cedeno. 
Sunday's alumni game is the conclusion of four days of alumni related events for the club, beginning with the Red Sox Hall of Fame Induction Gala on Thursday, May 24; a pregame ceremony honoring the new Red Sox Hall of Fame inductees at Fenway Park on Friday, May 25; and extended hours for autograph alley before and during the Saturday, May 26, game.
