Yankees announce 2022 promotional schedule
The New York Yankees have announced the 2022 Promotional Schedule, which features a range of classic items along with a number of new giveaways. This season’s slate also marks the return of Old-Timers' Day and seven collectible bobblehead giveaways, including those for current players, Yankees legends, iconic on-screen characters, as well as a first-ever Yankees talking bobblehead.
Yankees Old-Timers’ Day returns for its 74th edition this season after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic. The perennial fan-favorite event will take place on Sat., July 30, and Yankees alumni attendees will be announced at the start of the summer. As previously announced, a singular Yankees hero will be celebrated on Sun., Aug. 21, as Paul O’Neill Day will see his number retired in a pregame ceremony with all fans in attendance receiving a commemorative ticket.
This season’s creative slate of bobblehead promotions is headlined by the Yankees’ first-ever bobblehead with sound -- the John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman “Talking Bobblehead” presented by WFAN on Fri., Aug. 19. Current Yankees stars are represented with bobbleheads for Aaron Judge (Fri., June 3) and Gerrit Cole (Fri., Sept. 30), both of which are presented by T-Mobile. Yankees legends are also in this year’s mix with an Elston Howard bobblehead presented by Bank of America on Thurs., Apr. 14, which will be 67 years to the day he made his Major League debut and became the first black player in Yankees franchise history. Fellow Monument Park inductee Andy Pettitte will be honored with a bobblehead on Fri., May 20, presented by Delta Air Lines.
Hollywood characters will be featured again this season as Star Wars Night is back in 2022 for a fifth time with a Yankees Yoda Bobblehead giveaway on Fri., May 6. Additionally, the Yankees will also have a limited-edition Scooby-Doo Bobblehead on Sun., Apr. 24.
Other giveaway dates include Yankees Lightweight Hoodie Night presented by Ford (Fri., Apr. 22), Yankees Purse Day on Mothers’ Day (Sun., May 8) and Yankees Pint Glass Night presented by Budweiser (Fri., July 29).
For fans keen on headwear, the Yankees will host Cap Night presented by Canon on Wed., Aug. 17, Visor Night presented by Benjamin Moore on Thurs., Aug. 18 and Camo Cap Day presented by Budweiser on Sat., Aug. 20.
