White Sox manager Tony La Russa to miss tonight's game
CHICAGO – At the direction of his doctors, Chicago White Sox manager Tony La Russa will miss tonight’s game vs. Kansas City. La Russa is scheduled to undergo further medical testing tomorrow in Chicago.
Bench coach Miguel Cairo will manage the club in La Russa’s absence. Cairo, 48, went 2-0 as the White Sox acting manager in 2021, recording a 9-8 victory on August 12 vs. the Yankees at the Field of Dreams Game and a 7-2 win on September 17 at Texas.
The White Sox anticipate providing an update on La Russa’s status prior to tomorrow night’s game against the Royals.
