White Sox announce four roster moves
KANSAS CITY – Prior to tonight’s game at Kansas City, the Chicago White Sox announced the following four roster moves:
- Selected the contract of OF Jake Marisnick from Class AAA Charlotte;
- Recalled RHP Nick Padilla from Charlotte;
- Placed OF Billy Hamilton on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to May 7) with a left hamstring strain;
- Designated RHP Alexander Colomé for assignment.
Marisnick is hitting .264/.407/.391 (23-87) with six doubles, one home run, nine RBI, 17 walks and 12 runs scored and eight stolen bases (nine attempts) over 30 games with Charlotte this season. He has appeared in 14 games (12 starts) in center field, 10 (nine) in left and seven (seven) in right with the Knights. Marisnick, 6-4 and 220 pounds, signed with the White Sox as a minor-league free agent on January 7, 2023.
Marisnick is a career .228/.281/.384 (451-1,977) hitter with 93 doubles, 13 triples, 63 home runs, 213 RBI and 277 runs scored in 831 games over 10 major-league seasons with Miami (2013-14), Houston (2014-19), the Mets (2020), the Cubs (2021), San Diego (2021) and Pittsburgh (2022). He originally was selected by Toronto in the third round of the 2009 First-Year Player Draft. Marisnick will wear uniform No. 41.
Padilla is 1-0 with a 3.86 ERA (6 ER/14.0 IP), one save, 15 strikeouts and a .180 (9-50) opponents average in 12 relief appearances with Charlotte. He served as the 27th player for a doubleheader on April 18 vs. Philadelphia but did not pitch. Padilla was claimed off waivers by the White Sox from the Cubs on September 9, 2022.
Hamilton has appeared in three games with Chicago since his contract was selected from the Knights on May 2, going 0-2 with two runs scored and two steals.
Colomé went 0-1 with a 6.00 ERA (2 ER/3.0 IP) and two strikeouts in four relief appearances with the Sox after his contract was selected from Charlotte on May 2.
Following the moves, the White Sox 40-man roster remains at 40.
