CHICAGO – The Chicago White Sox have agreed to terms on a one-year, $3.5-million contract with infielder Josh Rojas. To make room for Rojas on the 40-man roster, the White Sox designated infielder Jake Amaya for assignment.

Rojas, 30, spent the 2024 season with the Seattle Mariners, hitting .225/.304/.336 (95-422) with 19 doubles, two triples, eight home runs, 31 RBI, 48 runs scored and 10 stolen bases over 143 games. The left-handed hitting Rojas slashed .343/.405/.505 (36-105) with four doubles, two triples, three homers and eight RBI over his first 32 games of the season.

Rojas, 6-foot-1 and 200 pounds, is a .247/.323/.362 (460-1,862) career hitter with 100 doubles, six triples, 34 home runs, 189 RBI, 256 runs scored and 59 steals in 570 games over five major-league seasons with Arizona (2019-23) and Seattle (2023-24). He was traded by the Diamondbacks with outfielder Dominic Canzone and infielder Ryan Bliss to the Mariners in exchange for right-handed pitcher Paul Sewald on July 31, 2023.

Rojas, a native of Litchfield Park, Ariz., originally was selected by Houston in the 26th round of the 2017 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Hawai’i. He was acquired by Arizona as part of a five-player trade that sent right-hander Zack Greinke to the Astros on July 31, 2019.

Amaya, 26, batted .176 (12-68) with one double, three RBI and four runs scored over 24 games between Houston and the White Sox last season. He was claimed by the Sox off waivers from the Astros on August 26, 2024.

The White Sox 40-man roster remains at 40.
