Umpires for Wild Card Games and Division Series announced
Major League Baseball today announced the Major League Umpires who have been assigned to 2019 Postseason games through the Division Series. The Wild Card Game crew chiefs will be Bill Miller and Jeff Nelson, while the Division Series crew chiefs will be Ted Barrett, Gary Cederstrom, Sam Holbrook and Mark Wegner.
Nelson will be the second base umpire for Tuesday’s National League Wild Card Game (MIL @ WSH) on TBS, with regular season crew chief Mike Everitt behind home plate. They will be joined by Cory Blaser, Kerwin Danley, David Rackley and Carlos Torres. In Wednesday’s American League Wild Card Game (TB @ OAK) on ESPN, Miller will be the second base umpire, with Chad Fairchild calling balls and strikes. Lance Barrett, regular season crew chief Fieldin Culbreth, Chris Guccione and Adam Hamari round out the crew. The Replay Officials for both Wild Card Games will be Umpires Laz Diaz and Dan Iassogna.
The NL Division Series are scheduled to begin on Thursday, October 3rd. The crew chiefs on the NL side will be Ted Barrett (Wild Card Game winner @ LAD) and Sam Holbrook (STL @ ATL). Barrett’s crew has Jordan Baker, Doug Eddings, Tripp Gibson, Will Little and Alfonso Marquez. The crew led by Holbrook includes regular season crew chief Tom Hallion, Ed Hickox, Pat Hoberg, Alan Porter and Jim Wolf. All NLDS games will be telecast exclusively by TBS.
The crew chiefs for the AL Division Series, which are set to start on Friday, October 4th, are Gary Cederstrom (MIN @ NYY) and Mark Wegner (Wild Card Game winner @ HOU). The crew guided by Cederstrom includes Lance Barksdale, Eric Cooper, Manny Gonzalez, Adrian Johnson and Todd Tichenor. The crew of Wegner has Bruce Dreckman, James Hoye, regular season crew chief Jerry Meals, D.J. Reyburn and John Tumpane. FS1 or MLB Network will telecast all ALDS games.
The Replay Officials during the Division Series will be Umpires Ron Kulpa, Gabe Morales, Paul Nauert and Brian O’Nora. A complete listing of the rotations through the Division Series accompanies this press release.
