Umpires announced for 2022 All-Star Game
Bill Miller, who joined the Major League staff in 1999 and was appointed a crew chief ahead of the 2014 season, will serve as the Crew Chief and work behind the plate at Baseball’s 92nd All-Star Game presented by Mastercard on Tuesday, July 19th at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.
Miller will work his second Midsummer Classic following his 2007 assignment in San Francisco. The UCLA graduate has worked four World Series, eight League Championship Series and nine Division Series, and currently ranks seventh among active umpires with 104 Postseason games worked. Miller’s crew will include Lance Barksdale (first base), California native Mark Ripperger (second base), Will Little (third base), California native Gabe Morales (left field) and Carlos Torres (right field). This will mark the second career All-Star assignment for Barksdale (2012), and the first for Ripperger, Little, Morales and Torres. The Replay Official who will be based in the Replay Operations Center during the 2022 All-Star Game will be Brian Knight, a 13-year Major League Umpire. Knight worked the 2012 All-Star Game in Kansas City.
The Minor League Baseball umpires who will work the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game are Double-A Umpires James Jean (home plate); Trevor Dannegger (first base); Hardlen Acosta (second base); and Dexter Kelley (third base). All four umpires will be on the field for the MLB/USA Baseball All-American Game this afternoon, as well as the T-Mobile Home Run Derby on Monday, July 12th. Dannegger and Kelley, both of whom attended MLB’s Umpire Camps, also will be a part of Saturday’s All-Star Celebrity Softball Game.
The 92nd Midsummer Classic will be televised nationally by FOX Sports; in Canada by Rogers Sportsnet and RDS; and worldwide by partners in more than 180 countries. FOX Deportes will provide Spanish language coverage in the United States. ESPN Radio will provide exclusive national radio coverage of the All-Star Game, while Univision will provide Spanish language coverage on radio.
