Twins place Nelson Cruz on 10-day injured list
Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have placed designated hitter Nelson Cruz on the 10-day Injured List with a left wrist strain.
Cruz injured his wrist on a swing during the fourth inning of last night’s game with the Cleveland Indians. In 87 games for the Twins this season, Cruz is hitting .294 (95-for-323) with 19 doubles, 32 home runs, 76 RBI, 41 walks, 59 runs scored and a 1.035 OPS. Since the All-Star break, Cruz leads baseball in home runs (16) and ranks fifth for the entire season. This marks Cruz’s second stint on the Injured List with a left wrist strain in 2019, having suffered the same injury in late May.
To replace Cruz on the 25-man roster, the Twins have recalled right-handed pitcher Cody Stashak from Triple-A Rochester. Stashak, who was just optioned to Rochester from Minnesota on Wednesday, has appeared in five games for the Twins this season, going 0-1 with a 5.87 ERA (7.2 IP, 5 ER), no walks and nine strikeout.
