Twins place Caleb Thielbar on 15-day injured list
DETROIT, MI – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have placed left-handed pitcher Caleb Thielbar on the 15-day Injured List (retroactive to July 19) with a left hamstring strain.
Thielbar has made a team-leading 40 relief appearances for the Twins this season, going 2-0 with one save, a 4.84 ERA (35.1 IP, 19 ER), 15 walks and 47 strikeouts.
To replace Thielbar on the 26-man roster, the Twins have recalled right-handed pitcher Yennier Cano from Triple-A St. Paul. This is Cano’s third stint with the Twins this season (previously May 11-28, June 2-11), going 1-0 with 11.2 innings pitched, nine walks and 12 strikeouts in his nine prior relief appearances. The 28-year-old has gone 1-1 with a 1.90 ERA (23.2 IP, 5 ER), six walks and 25 strikeouts in 20 appearances for the Saints.
