Twins place Buxton on 60-day injured list and reinstate Gibson from 10-day injured list

Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have placed outfielder Byron Buxton on the 60-day Injured List with a left shoulder subluxation, have reinstated right-handed pitcher Kyle Gibson from the 10-day Injured List and have selected the contract of infielder Ronald Torreyes from Triple-A Rochester.

Buxton played in 87 games for the Twins this season, hitting .262 (71-for-271) with 30 doubles, four triples, 10 home runs, 46 RBI, 48 runs scored, 19 walks and an .827 OPS. The centerfielder, who suffered the left shoulder subluxation on August 1 in Miami, missed the remainder of the month. He returned September 1 and played in five games last week in a defensive replacement role and as a pinch runner.

Gibson, who missed the Twins last nine games with Ulcerative Colitis, has appeared in 28 games (27 starts) for the Twins this season, going 13-6 with a 4.58 ERA (149.1 IP, 76 ER), 45 walks allowed and 146 strikeouts.

Torreyes, who was signed by the Twins last offseason, spent 2019 with Triple-A Rochester and Single-A Ft. Myers. The 27-year-old infielder played in 79 games for the Red Wings this season, hitting .256 (79-for-308) with 11 doubles, one triple, 11 home runs, 42 RBI, 48 runs scored and 12 walks. He has played parts of four seasons in the major leagues with the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees, hitting .281 (162-for-576) with 30 doubles, six triples, four home runs, 56 RBI, 65 runs scored and 24 walks.

The Twins now have 40 active players on their roster.
