Minnesota Twins announce appointment of Meka White Morris as senior vice president, chief revenue officer
MINNEAPOLIS-ST. PAUL, MN – The Minnesota Twins today announced the appointment of sports and entertainment executive Meka White Morris to the club’s newly-created position of Senior Vice President, Chief Revenue Officer. In her position, Morris will collaborate across the organization’s Senior Leadership Team to drive continued business growth and development, with a specific focus on the exploration and optimization of potential new and evolving revenue streams. Morris’ first day with the Twins is set for Monday, August 9.
“We are ecstatic to add the pedigree and passion of Meka White Morris to our organization,” said Twins President & CEO Dave St. Peter. “Looking at the evolving media, technology, partnership and fan landscape in our game and across the sports industry, there is great opportunity ahead for the Twins – and Major League Baseball – now and into the immediate future. We view Meka as the perfect complement to our existing team, and are excited to see how her innovative approach will help drive us collectively forward in the coming years.”
Morris, who in June was named to the Sports Business Journal’s 2021 “Forty Under 40” class, most recently served as Chief Revenue Officer for Tappit, the global payment and data ecosystem for events, sports stadia and venues. She successfully led the company’s business expansion into North America, landing deals with the Kansas City Chiefs, Jacksonville Jaguars and San Antonio Spurs, to name a few, while striking a strategic partnership with LEARFIELD.
With the Twins, Morris will actively partner with Laura Day (Executive Vice President, Chief Business Officer), Joe Pohlad (Executive Vice President, Brand Strategy & Growth), Mike Clough (Senior Vice President, Ticket Sales & Brand Partnerships) and Jason Lee (Senior Vice President, Business Strategy & Analytics), among others, to align and advance the organization’s revenue-generating platforms.
“I am thrilled to join the Minnesota Twins at a time when the organization is poised to be an industry leader for innovation and growth,” said Morris. “There is a clear desire by team leadership, including the Pohlad family, to embrace opportunity, and to identify and create new avenues that ultimately enhance the overall brand experience for Twins fans. I cannot wait to join the Twins family and be part of this exciting next chapter.”
Prior to her time with Tappit, Morris built an extensive track record of success working in sales-focused leadership roles for LEARFIELD, Legends Hospitality, Live Nation Entertainment, the Charlotte Hornets, the Oakland Raiders and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
A native of Boston, Massachusetts, Morris graduated from the University of Kansas, where she was a track and field athlete for the Jayhawks. Her late father, Boston Celtics legend Jo Jo White, had a stellar 12-year NBA career and was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2015.
