Twins claim Ryan Jensen

MINNEAPOLIS-ST. PAUL, MN – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have claimed right-handed pitcher Ryan Jensen off waivers from the Miami Marlins.

Jensen, 26, split the 2023 season between three minor league teams, combining to go 2-8 with a 5.32 ERA (64.1 IP, 38 ER), 54 walks, 78 strikeouts and 10.9 strikeouts-per-9.0 innings pitched in 43 games (6 starts) between Double-A Tennessee (Chicago-NL), Triple-A Iowa (Chicago-NL) and Triple-A Tacoma (Seattle).

The 6-foot, 190-poound right-hander has pitched parts of four seasons in the Cubs and Mariners organizations, going 7-19 with a 4.42 ERA (215.2 IP, 106 ER), 138 walks, 247 strikeouts and 10.3 strikeouts-per-9.0 innings pitched in 86 games (49 starts). The Monterey, California native was originally selected by the Chicago Cubs in the first round (27th overall) in the 2019 First-Year Player Draft out of California State University, Fresno.

The Twins now have 38 players on their 40-man roster: 19 pitchers, three catchers, eight infielders and eight outfielders.
