HOUSTON, TX - Major League Baseball announced today their second balloting update for the 2024 MLB All-Star Game presented by Mastercard. Like last Monday’s update, three Astros currently hold positional leads: 2B Jose Altuve, DH Yordan Alvarez and OF Kyle Tucker.

The first phase of the 2024 MLB All-Star Ballot presented by BuildSubmarines.com enters its final days with voting set to expire on Thursday, June 27, at 11 a.m. CT. The All-Star ballot is available exclusively online and via mobile devices at MLB.com/Vote, at all 30 Club web sites, via the MLB App and via the MLB Ballpark App.

On Thursday, June 27, the top two vote-getters at each position (and the top six outfielders) in each League will be revealed on MLB Network at 5 p.m. CT. That group will advance to the second phase of voting to determine who makes the All-Star teams and starts for each League. Phase 2 will begin at 11 a.m. CT on Sunday, June 30, with fans voting among the finalists at each position during a window that concludes at 11 a.m. CT on Wednesday, July 3. Later that night, the winners will be announced on ESPN at 6 p.m. CT during the All-Star Starters Reveal presented by BuildSubmarines.com.

Altuve, who leads all Astros in votes with 1,233,299, is an eight-time All-Star, earning five fan elections (2015-18; 2022) in his esteemed career. He’s off to another stellar season, hitting .299 (98x318) with 16 doubles, 12 homers, 33 RBI, 10 stolen bases and an .810 OPS in 77 games. Altuve leads all AL second baseman in hits, home runs, batting average, OBP, SLG and OPS, while ranking tied for first in doubles.

Alvarez is looking for his first starting assignment after making the AL team as a reserve in 2022 and 2023. The Astros designated hitter and left fielder is hitting .288 (83x288) with 16 doubles, 16 homers, 41 RBI and an .877 OPS in 75 games this season. Alvarez leads AL qualified designated hitters in batting average, OBP, SLG, and OPS, and ranks second in runs, hits and home runs.

Tucker, like Alvarez, is a two-time All-Star (2022-23), looking for his first fan election. Tucker has been in the AL MVP conversation this season, hitting .266 (57x214) with 11 doubles, 19 homers, 40 RBI, 10 stolen bases and a .979 OPS in 60 games. Despite missing the last two weeks with injury, Tucker still ranks second in home runs, second in slugging and fourth in OPS among AL outfielders.

Five other Astros also appeared among the top vote-getters in MLB’s Phase 1 update: C Yainer Diaz (5th), 3B Alex Bregman (6th), SS Jeremy Peña (6th), 1B Jon Singleton (7th) and OF Mauricio Dubón (14th).

The Astros are looking to continue their run of having at least three All-Stars in every All-Star game since the 2017 season. The Astros 30 All-Star selections since 2017 are the most of any AL club in that span.
