The Baltimore Orioles announce the promotion of Greg Bader and addition of Kerry Watson to the senior executive team, expanded role for Lisa Tolson

The Baltimore Orioles today announced the promotion of GREG BADER to Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer and the hire of KERRY WATSON as Executive Vice President, Public Affairs. LISA TOLSON will take on the title of Senior Vice President and Chief People Officer.

“There is no one person responsible for the success of the Orioles. From the field to the front office, we are an incredible team,” said Orioles Chair and CEO JOHN ANGELOS. "The entire Orioles organization welcomes Greg, Kerry, and Lisa to their new executive positions as the Orioles continue our commitment to building a diverse and skilled senior leadership team managing the club.”

Bader has served as Senior Vice President, Administration & Experience since 2019, helping to manage the operational success of the organization. Bader will build on his deep knowledge of the Orioles organization to now oversee all day-to-day business needs of the club, including Revenue, Operations, Orioles Entertainment, and Broadcasting. A Baltimore native, Bader first joined the Orioles as a public relations intern in 1994 and has served in multiple roles over the last three decades, including Director of Communications and Vice President of Marketing & Communications.

“Greg, a lifelong Orioles fan, has been an integral part of the team and local Baltimore community for almost 30 years,” said CHUCK TILDON, Vice President of External Affairs for the University of Maryland Medical System. “I am excited to see Greg continue to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion at the ballpark and within the local community as he takes on this new role and brings the Orioles even more success.”

Watson joins the Orioles organization in a newly created position, where he will oversee the club’s Government Affairs, Communications, Community Development, and Creative Content. He comes to the Orioles after six years in executive positions at MGM Resorts International, including the last three years as MGM’s Regional Vice President of Government Affairs. At MGM, Watson significantly grew the company’s positive impact on local communities where MGM has a footprint, with specific attention to supplier diversity and job creation. Raised in Maryland, Watson previously served as a Governmental Relations Consultant for Alexander & Cleaver, an Annapolis lobbying and law firm, and prior to that, as Senior Advisor to Prince George’s County Executive Rushern Baker. Before embarking on his career in government affairs, Watson had a 20-year career with the Prince George’s County Police Department.

“I have had the opportunity to know Kerry for over 15 years. He is a proud Marylander, widely known for using his platform for the betterment of his community,” said State Treasurer DERECK DAVIS. “I applaud the Orioles for their investment in leaders like Kerry who are committed to a positive partnership with the City of Baltimore and the State of Maryland.”

Tolson has been with the Orioles for 38 years, most recently as Senior Vice President of Human Resources. Tolson will remain Senior Vice President with the additional, expanded role of Chief People Officer, giving her oversight of all aspects of the team’s human resources functions.

“Lisa’s commitment to Baltimore is unmatched,” said CASSIE MOTZ, Executive Director of the CollegeBound Foundation. “She’s critical to our partnership with the Orioles. With Lisa’s support, 15 Orioles Scholars will be able to experience in-depth mentoring and professional development at the ballpark over the next 5 years.”
