Texas Rangers PLAY BALL WEEKEND events scheduled for June 9 & 11
Arlington, Texas— The Texas Rangers, in partnership with Major League Baseball’s PLAY BALL WEEKEND celebrations around the world, will host free baseball and softball events for North Texas youth on Friday, June 9, and Sunday, June 11.
The Rangers will hold three events at the West Dallas Youth Academy and Globe Life Field during PLAY BALL WEEKEND that focus on celebrating the game and growing youth engagement across all age groups.
On Friday, June 9, the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association (MLBPAA) will host a Legends for Youth Clinic at the Texas Rangers Youth Academy, where baseball players 13-18 years old will train with former Major Leaguers. Scheduled to participate in the clinic are former Rangers Tim Crabtree, Bob Malloy, Warren Newson, Justin Ruggiano, Donnie Sadler, and Shawn Tolleson, alongside Jeff DeWillis, Jimmy Serrano, and Dan Smith. Participants are subject to change.
Friday morning’s Legends for Youth Clinic will take place during Youth Academy summer baseball programming from 9:30 a.m. - noon. Registration remains open at rangers.com/playball.
On Friday night, the Rangers Youth Academy invites fans of all ages to attend the Nike RBI baseball matchup between the Wildcats and Down East under the lights at Johnny Oates Field, with the first pitch scheduled for 7 p.m.
The game is free to attend and will showcase competitive gameplay between baseball's rising stars in a big-league atmosphere, complete with Rangers mascot Captain on-site to distribute PLAY BALL bat and ball kits to lucky fans in the grandstands.
To round out the weekend, the Texas Rangers will host a PLAY BALL event at Globe Life Field on Sunday, June 11, from 10-11:30 a.m. Kids ages 7-14 will take the field like the pros to work on hitting, fielding, and base running drills, plus some friendly head-to-head competitions.
Texas Rangers Youth Academy coaches will lead Sunday’s camp with help from Rangers alumni José Guzmán and Cecil Espy. Alumni coaches are subject to change. All participants will take home a Texas Rangers PLAY BALL t-shirt and bat and ball set.
