Miami Marlins closer Tanner Scott has been voted the National League Reliever of the Month for September/October, and New York Yankees closer Clay Holmes has been voted the American League Reliever of the Month for September/October.

Scott earned his first career monthly honor and became just the third Marlins reliever to claim a Reliever of the Month Award, joining Todd jones (August 2005) and Kyle Barraclough (June 2018). Holmes claimed his second career Reliever of the Month honor following his initial win in May 2022. Holmes becomes the third Yankees reliever to take home the award on multiple occasions, joining Hall of Famer Mariano Rivera (April 2008 and July 2009) and former teammate Aroldis Chapman (September 2017; May 2019; August 2019).

• The 29-year-old left-hander went 3-1 with a 1.65 ERA while converting each of his nine save opportunities across 14 appearances in September. In 16.1 innings pitched, he permitted five runs (three earned) on 10 hits with one walk and 20 strikeouts.
• The Ohio native closed out his 2023 regular season with four consecutive perfect appearances, combining for 4.1 innings over his final four outings while fanning eight batters and converting three saves.
• The sixth-round selection in the 2014 MLB Draft picked up multiple strikeouts in six of his 14 appearances, including three games with three punchouts.
• Scott held opposing hitters to a .167 batting average last month and did not allow a hit in eight of his 14 outings.
• With his three strikeouts against Milwaukee on September 24th, the Howard College (TX) product became the first left-handed reliever in Marlins history to record 100 strikeouts in a season, and he joined Barraclough (113 in 2016) as the only two relievers in franchise history to reach the 100-strikeout mark in a single season.

• The 30-year-old right-hander registered a 0.75 ERA over 12 appearances last month while converting each of his eight save opportunities. In 12.0 innings pitched, he surrendered just two runs (one earned) on five hits with four walks and 11 strikeouts.
• The Yankees went 12-0 during the month in games in which Holmes appeared, finishing the year 49-17 in such games.
• Over his first eight appearances of September, the Alabama native permitted just two hits with three walks and seven strikeouts over 8.0 scoreless frames.
• The ninth-round selection in the 2011 Draft held opposing batters to a .122 batting average, marking his season-best monthly mark.
• Holmes finished the season having not allowed a run in 12 of his final 13 appearances while posting scoreless outings in 45 of his final 54 outings since May 6th. His 66 appearances were a team-high and marked his second-most in a season for his career, trailing only his 69 appearances in 2021.
