Schwarber’s Neighborhood Heroes to Host Block Party Benefiting First Responder Families
PHILADELPHIA, May 30, 2024 — There’s nothing like a summertime block party to bring a community together. Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Kyle Schwarber and his wife Paige will serve as hosts for Schwarber’s Block Party on Wednesday, June 19, 6:30-9:30 p.m., at Yards Brewing Company, continuing their support of first responders and their families through Schwarber’s Neighborhood Heroes.
Schwarber’s Block Party made its Philadelphia debut last fall, with more than 325 guests turning out to enjoy live music, delicious food highlighting the diversity of Philly's neighborhoods, and a silent and live auction featuring experiences, sports memorabilia and more. Thanks to the generosity of event partners who helped to underwrite the evening and attending fans, the event raised more than $320,000 for Schwarber's Neighborhood Heroes.
These funds are used to support Philadelphia-area first responders and their families with grants to nonprofits and funding for positive experiences like Game Day appreciation events.
This year’s event promises similar entertainment, food and beverages, including a variety of Yards Brewing Company beer, wine and a wide range of foods representing Philadelphia’s neighborhoods. Attendees can participate in both a silent and live auction featuring signed sports memorabilia and exclusive experiences.

Kyle is expected to be joined by several of his Phillies teammates, as well as many first responders and their family members. There are opportunities throughout the evening for guests to express their thanks to these neighborhood heroes who give to the community every day and sacrifice to keep us safe and free.
Net funds raised will benefit organizations serving Philadelphia area first responders and their families, including:
- The Philadelphia Fire Department Foundation: promotes fire and life safety education and helps the Philadelphia Fire Department better protect Philadelphia.
- The Philadelphia Police Foundation: provides important support and resources to the Philadelphia Police Department to assist the Department in ensuring the safety and security of the city’s residents, visitors and businesses.
- Families Behind the Badge Children’s Foundation: a nonprofit dedicated to supporting the families of fallen and critically injured first responders and building healthy connections in the communities they serve.
- Team Foster: a nonprofit that fights for the unmet needs of injured and disabled Veterans by bringing together civilians, Veterans and highly trained service dogs.
- TAPS: a national nonprofit organization providing compassionate care and comprehensive resources for all those grieving the death of a military or veteran loved one.
About Schwarber’s Neighborhood Heroes:
Kyle Schwarber grew up in a family deeply connected to public service – his father is a retired police chief, his mother served as a police dispatcher, and his sister currently works in the local PD.
In 2017, Kyle and Paige Schwarber started Schwarber's Neighborhood Heroes with the goal of expressing gratitude for the unique sacrifices made by first responders and their families. The program creates positive experiences and also funds wellness, education, and crisis needs for first responders and their families.
Since its inception, Schwarber’s Neighborhood Heroes has:
- Awarded more than $650,000 in grants to nonprofits.
- Hosted more than 570 first responders and their families at ballparks and events.
- Extended its reach to cities like Philadelphia, Chicago, and Washington, D.C.
- Supported numerous nonprofits such as Philadelphia and Chicago Police and Fire Department Foundations, Families Behind the Badge Children’s Foundation, Fisher House, TAPS, Team Foster and many more.
