Red Sox to celebrate 11th annual Pride Night at Fenway Park tonight
BOSTON, MA – The Boston Red Sox will hold its 11th Pride Night at Fenway Park tonight, June 11, celebrating members of Boston’s LGBTQ+ community in ceremonies and pregame entertainment before the 7:10 p.m. Red Sox-Phillies game.
During tonight’s Pride Night pre-game ceremonies, Coro Allegro, Boston’s LGBTQ+ and allied classical chorus will perform the National Anthem. Civil rights advocate Mary Bonauto will throw out a ceremonial first pitch. Bonauto led the legal team that argued the landmark 2003 Goodridge v Department of Public Health case, making Massachusetts the first state where same-sex couples could legally marry beginning in May 2004.
Gates open at 5:40 p.m., where a Big Concourse Block Party will feature a performance by Linda Maripossa and will include local drag performers in a tribute to Selena Quintanilla. Pride themed photo stations will be available for fans to enjoy, and local community organizations PFLAG and Gay For Good will have resource tables available. DJ Harlow Havoc will host a pre-game Pride Party on the Sam Deck that is open to all fans attending the game. Dale Scott, the first openly gay MLB umpire, will greet fans in Autograph Alley. Scott umpired the 2004 World Series.
The club will fly the Intersex Progress Pride flag at the ballpark throughout the day today. In recognition of Pride Month, the Boston Red Sox made a donation to Boston Proud in support of their programmatic efforts including this year’s Chandler Street Block Party. This past weekend, the club sponsored the 2024 Boston Pride for the People parade, with members of the Red Sox front office participating.
