RED SOX SET 2023 MAJOR LEAGUE COACHING STAFF

BOSTON, MA—The Boston Red Sox today named Kyle Hudson the club’s first base coach and outfield instructor. Resuming their roles on the Major League coaching staff will be Dave Bush (pitching coach), Kevin Walker (bullpen coach), Pete Fatse (hitting coach), Luis Ortiz (assistant hitting coach/interpreter), Ben Rosenthal (assistant hitting coach), Carlos Febles (third base coach and infield instructor), Andy Fox (field coordinator), and Jason Varitek (game planning coordinator and catching coach). Ramón Vázquez was named bench coach on November 29.

Chief Baseball Officer Chaim Bloom and Manager Alex Cora made the announcement.

Hudson, 35, spent the last six seasons (2017-22) in the Cleveland Guardians organization, including the last three as a Major League coaching assistant. In his most recent role, he instructed the club’s outfielders and handled advance scouting duties. Hudson previously served as bench coach for High-A Lynchburg (2017), Single-A Lake County (2018), and Triple-A Columbus (2019). Prior to joining the Cleveland organization, he served as an assistant coach for his alma mater, the University of Illinois. After batting .376 for the Illini, Hudson was selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the fourth round of the 2008 First-Year Player Draft. He played in 14 Major League games, all with the Orioles in 2011.
