Red Sox Hall of Famer David Ortiz to mark Hispanic Heritage Night presented by Goya Foods in ceremonies before tomorrow's game

BOSTON, MA – The Red Sox will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Night tomorrow, Wednesday, September 28, in pregame ceremonies recognizing the achievements and contributions of various members of Boston’s Hispanic/Latinx community, including Hall of Famer David Ortiz. Hispanic Heritage Night at Fenway Park is presented by Goya Foods.

Pregame ceremonies will honor Latinx members of the community dedicated to lifting Latinx voices and will recognize the 50th anniversary of Spanish-language media company El Mundo Boston. Caporales Universitarios de San Simón New England, a Bolivian dance group, will provide cultural entertainment on Jersey Street before the game. Hall of Famer David Ortiz will be present and participate in Hispanic Heritage Night activities.

Mateo Lopez, recognized by Guinness World Records as the world’s youngest mariachi singer, will perform the National Anthem, and Spanish-language broadcaster Junior Pepén will announce team lineups in Spanish. Beef empanadas will also be available at the Test Kitchen concession stand on the Big Concourse and in suites and the media dining room.

In recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month, celebrated from September 15 to October 15, Latinx members of the Red Sox front office are being featured as guests during the Spanish radio broadcasts through the end of the 2022 regular season.

The Boston Red Sox kicked off Hispanic Heritage Month with Día de Los Medias Rojas, marking Mexican independence, on September 16. Tickets for tomorrow’s game are available by visiting redsox.com/hispanicheritage and include a custom Red Sox Hispanic Heritage t-shirt featuring flags from all Latin/Hispanic countries. Mastercard is the preferred payment method of the Boston Red Sox.

Hispanic Heritage Night presented by Goya Foods is an official event of City of Boston’s All-Inclusive Boston culture and tourism initiative and is part of the club’s ongoing effort to make Fenway Park an inclusive environment for all fans.
