Red Sox claim right-handed pitcher Geoff Hartlieb off waivers from New York Mets

BOSTON, MA – The Boston Red Sox today claimed right-handed pitcher Geoff Hartlieb off waivers from the New York Mets and optioned him to Triple-A Worcester.

Chief Baseball Officer Chaim Bloom made the announcement.

Hartlieb, 27, has made 57 major league appearances, all in relief for the Pittsburgh Pirates (2019-21) and Mets (2021). In 66.1 career innings, he has recorded 66 strikeouts and allowed 55 earned runs (7.46 ERA). Selected by Pittsburgh in the 29th round of the 2016 June Draft, the right-hander has posted a 3.03 ERA (71 ER/210.2 IP) in his minor league career, going 20-12 with 23 saves, 223 strikeouts, a 1.24 WHIP, and a .233 opponent batting average in 147 outings, all as a reliever.
