Red Sox announce roster moves
BOSTON, MA—The Boston Red Sox today announced the following roster moves:
Placed left-handed pitcher Chris Sale on the 15-Day Injured List with a left fifth finger fracture, retroactive to July 19.
Recalled right-handed pitcher Brayan Bello from Triple-A Worcester.
Optioned catcher Connor Wong to Worcester yesterday, July 21.
Selected infielder Yolmer Sánchez to the active Major League roster from Worcester.

Sale, 33, returned from the 60-Day Injured List on July 12 and started that day’s game against the Tampa Bay Rays, throwing 5.0 scoreless innings with three hits allowed, five strikeouts, and one walk. On July 17, he was removed from his start against the New York Yankees after being struck by a line drive in the first inning.
Bello, 23, has made two starts for Boston this season, allowing nine runs on 13 hits in 8.0 innings pitched (10.13 ERA). Ranked by Baseball America as the No. 24 prospect in baseball, the right-hander is 10-4 with a 2.35 ERA (23 ER/88.0 IP) in 16 appearances (15 starts) between Worcester and Double-A Portland this season.
Wong, 26, has played in five games for Boston this season, going 2-for-8 (.250) with an RBI. The right-handed hitter has also batted .266 (62-for-233) with 15 doubles, six home runs, and 22 RBI in 60 games for Worcester.
Sánchez, 30, has appeared in one game for Boston this season, making his Red Sox debut on June 29 against the Toronto Blue Jays. He is batting .247 (61-for-247) with a .790 OPS in 78 games for Worcester this season, making 52 starts at second base, 16 at third base, and 10 at shortstop.
