Rays to host three community events over the weekend

The Tampa Bay Rays are hosting multiple community events this weekend centered around youth education, including Reading with the Rays presented by Suncoast Credit Union, the Stuff the Bus Supply Drive and the Baseball Magic Clinic.

The second Reading with the Rays event of the season is on Friday, July 12 from 12-1 p.m. at the Largo Public Library. The event will feature a Rays player reading books to children and is open to the public for children of all ages, no registration required.

Reading with the Rays—Read Your Way to the Ballpark encourages Pre-K to 12th grade students across nine counties to read for 24 hours during summer, with participating libraries tracking progress and offering incentives, such as two free Rays game tickets. Since its inception in 2007, the program has engaged over 540,000 students, who have collectively read more than 3.16 million hours. For more information about the program or to download a game card, visit RaysBaseball.com/Reading or RaysBeisbol.com/Leyendo.

Also on Friday, July 12, the Rays will partner with Hillsborough Education Foundation and Pinellas Education Foundation to collect school supplies for Tampa Bay students in Hillsborough and Pinellas County public schools as a part of this year’s Stuff the Bus School Supply Drive.

Fans can donate school supplies at Tropicana Field in Lot 7 and at Gate 4 from 3-7 p.m. All fans who donate items will receive a Rays ticket voucher valid for two lower reserved tickets for a future 2024 regular season home game, subject to availability. For more information, visit RaysBaseball.com/SupplyDrive.

On Saturday, July 13, the Rays will host the 4th annual Rays Baseball Magic Clinic at Tropicana Field from 9-11 a.m. Players from Buddy Baseball, A League of their Own and St. Petersburg Challenger League, which are non-competitive, recreational leagues serving individuals with unique abilities in the Tampa Bay community, will participate in the clinic.

The leagues will experience the magic of Rays baseball, alongside their buddies, parents, coaches and chaperones. Participants will take part in various stations throughout the clinic, concluding with a Papa John’s pizza party with Rays mascots. Participants will also have the opportunity to return to Tropicana Field for the Rays game against the Cleveland Guardians later that evening.
