Arlington, Texas — The Texas Rangers today announced the following transactions:
- Infielder Max Acosta contract selected from Frisco (AA).
- Right-handed pitcher Winston Santos contract selected from Frisco (AA).
- Right-handed pitcher Emiliano Teodo (pronounced “tay-OH-doh”) contract selected from Frisco (AA).
- Right-handed pitcher Carson Coleman returned to New York-AL.
Today’s transactions were completed ahead of Major League Baseball's 4:30 p.m. CT deadline this evening to file reserve lists for Major and Minor League rosters. The reserve lists are used as team rosters for MLB’s Rule 5 Draft at the Baseball Winter Meetings on December 11 in Dallas.
Acosta, 22, batted .288/.353/.425/.778 (111-386) with 8 home runs, 3 triples, 23 doubles, and 58 RBI over 104 games for Double-A Frisco in 2024, as his .288 batting average ranked 3rd among qualified Texas League hitters. The infielder also appeared in 20 games for the Surprise Saguaros of the Arizona Fall League this season, batting .338 (24-71) and earning a 2024 AFL Fall Stars game nod. The Caracas, Venezuela native was signed by Texas in 2019 as a non-drafted free agent and will be entering his fifth professional season in 2025 (all with Texas org.).
Santos, 22, combined to go 11-6 with a 3.67 ERA (45 ER/110.1 IP) over 22 games/starts with Hickory (A+) and Frisco (AA) in 2024, ranking among Rangers farmhands in wins (1st), strikeouts (2nd, 138), starts (3rd), innings (T3rd), ERA (5th), opponent’s average (5th, .221), and WHIP (6th, 1.14). The right-hander was selected to participate in the 2024 Futures Game at Globe Life Field in July, allowing one unearned run in an inning of relief work during the contest (1.0 IP, 1 H, 1 R-0 ER, 1 BB, 1 SO). A native of Payita, Dominican Republic, Santos was originally inked by Texas as an international free agent in 2019 and is currently rated among the top Texas farmhands by Fangraphs (4th), MLB Pipeline (8th), and Baseball America (8th). 2025 will mark his fifth professional campaign.
Teodo, 23, went 5-4 with a 1.98 ERA (19 ER/86.1 IP) over 20 games/19 starts for Frisco last season, his first career action at the Double-A level. Currently ranked as the Rangers' sixth-best prospect by MLB Pipeline, the right-hander averaged 11.47 strikeouts per 9 innings last season, ranking 2nd in the Texas League. His 110 strikeouts were 8th-most on the circuit, and he permitted just 4 home runs on the year. Teodo, who made 2 spring appearances for Texas as a non-roster invitee, was the starting pitcher for the American League squad in the 2024 MLB Futures Game at Globe Life Field (2.0 IP, 0 R, 1 SO). Originally signed by Texas as a non-drafted free agent in 2020, he is entering his fifth professional season in 2025.
Coleman, 26, spent the entire 2024 season on the Rangers' 60-day Injured List after being selected by Texas from New York-AL in the 2023 Rule 5 Draft (23rd selection). He did not pitch in 2023-24 after having right elbow surgery performed early last year.
Following today’s transactions, the Rangers have 39 players on the club’s Major League roster.
