Rangers recall RHP Nick Snyder from Round Rock, option RHP Josh Sborz to Round Rock

Houston, Texas — The Texas Rangers today announced that the club has recalled right-handed pitcher Nick Snyder from Triple-A Round Rock. To make room for Snyder on the active roster, the team has optioned right-handed pitcher Josh Sborz to Round Rock.

Snyder, 26, will be in his second stint with the Rangers this season, as he allowed 2 runs over 2 games/1.0 inning in his first stint from April 15-23. He will be available in the bullpen for tonight’s game in Houston, seeking his first MLB appearance since April 17 vs. Los Angeles-AL. Snyder has spent the balance of the season at Round Rock, where he has not allowed an earned run over 10 games: 1-0 with one save, 0.00 ERA (1 R-0 ER/8.2 IP), 4 walks, 12 strikeouts, 0.92 WHIP and .138 opponent batting average. He last pitched on Tuesday at Sugar Land, whiffing his only batter faced (5 pitches/4 strikes).

Sborz has allowed 10 runs-earned runs over 8 games/8.1 innings spanning three stints with Texas this season (Opening Day-May 1, May 8, May 12-19). In last night’s game at Houston, Sborz was charged with 3 runs in 1.1 innings after issuing 3 walks in the 8th inning.

After today’s transactions, the Rangers remain at the 40-man limit on the Major League roster, along with two players (Jonathan Hernández and José Leclerc) on the 60-day Injured List.
