Rangers place LHP Jacob Latz on 15-day injured list, recall LHP Brock Burke from Triple-A Round Rock

Arlington, Texas — The Texas Rangers today announced the following roster moves prior to Sunday’s series finale against the Boston Red Sox at Globe Life Field:

Latz, 28, has gone 2-3 with a 3.71 ERA (18 ER/43.2 IP) and 40 strikeouts/27 walks over a team-leading 46 relief appearances for Texas in 2024, also ranking among Texas relief leaders this season in innings (4th) and strikeouts (4th). He last appeared on Friday in the Rangers’ 11-6 loss to the Red Sox, allowing 2 runs (earned) on 3 hits (1 HR) with 3 walks over 2.0 innings. The left-hander has totaled a career 2-4 record and 3.46 ERA (21 ER/54.2 IP) over 50 games/one start spanning 3 Major League seasons (2021, 2023-24) with Texas.

Burke, who turns 28 today, has posted no record and a 7.45 ERA (8 ER/9.2 IP) over a pair of stints with Texas in 2024: Opening Day-April 12, June 12-29. He was optioned to Round Rock (AAA) following his most recent relief outing for the Rangers on June 29 at Baltimore (1.1 IP, 0 H, 1 R-ER, 1 BB). Prior to that, Burke had missed 52 games while on the Injured List due to a right hand fracture.

The southpaw has spent the balance of the campaign in the minor leagues, posting a 4.84 ERA (12 ER/20.1 IP) in 18 appearances/2 starts for Round Rock and Rookie-level ACL Rangers. His minor league action has included a 9-game, 2-start stint while on injury rehabilitation assignment from May 16-June 11.

Following today’s transactions, the Rangers remain at the 40-man limit on the club’s Major League roster, along with five players on the 60-day Injured List: Evan Carter, Carson Coleman, Jacob deGrom, Tyler Mahle, Cole Winn.
