The Pittsburgh Pirates today claimed infielder Tristan Gray off waivers from the Athletics.

The 28-year-old Gray spent a majority of the 2024 season between Triple-A Jacksonville and Las Vegas, where he hit .251 (105-for-418) with 25 doubles, four triples, 19 home runs, 64 RBI, .322 on-base percentage, .467 slugging percentage and .789 OPS in 112 games.

The left-handed hitting Gray also went 3-for-21 in eight games this past season with Oakland.

Gray was selected by the Pirates in the 13th round of the 2017 First-Year Player Draft out of Rice University. He was then traded to Tampa Bay along with pitcher Daniel Hudson on February 22, 2018, in exchange for outfielder Corey Dickerson.

Gray has hit .152 (5-for-33) with a double, home run and one RBI in 17 games in the big leagues with Tampa Bay (2023), Miami (2024) and Oakland (2024).
