Pirates announce vaccination clinic at PNC Park

The Pittsburgh Pirates today announced plans to host a special vaccination event at PNC Park on Saturday, June 19, as part of Major League Baseball’s “MLB Vaccinate at the Plate” campaign. The campaign, which launched earlier this month, is a league-wide initiative that encourages Clubs to host vaccination events and offer incentives to unvaccinated fans and combat COVID-19 vaccination hesitancy.

This Saturday’s event will be held in the Jim Beam Left Field Lounge from Noon to 2 p.m. and all unvaccinated fans who receive a COVID-19 vaccination shot at the afternoon event will receive a voucher for two free tickets to a game of their choice in 2021. Fans can pre-register at pirates.com/vaccination and walk-ups are also welcome throughout the day.

The event is in partnership with Allegheny Health Network and Highmark Health as the Club’s partners will cover the medical staffing. This marks the 11th on-site vaccination event the Pirates, AHN and Highmark have hosted at PNC Park, including the first large-scale vaccination event in the city of Pittsburgh on February 6, 2021. Throughout the pandemic, the three have combined to vaccinate more than 16,000 individuals through vaccination events at PNC Park.

“Since the beginning of the pandemic we have worked with AHN and Highmark Health to ensure many throughout our community are able to get the vaccine as safely and efficiently as possible,” said Pirates President Travis Williams. “As we plan to open the ballpark without seating restrictions on July 1, we are proud to support this MLB initiative and offer another opportunity for our fans and our city to safely return to normal activities.”

Fans entering the vaccination event are asked to use the Jim Beam Left Field Lounge entrance located on Federal Street next to the Willie Stargell statue. Pre-registered individuals are asked to arrive at the entrance 10 minutes prior to their appointment and have ID ready for entrance.

Masks will be required at the event and guests are asked to please follow all PNC Park gate entry rules and procedures. As a reminder: large bags will not be permitted upon entry, except for bags used exclusively for medical equipment or diaper bags for the care or infants and toddlers. Guests will still be permitted to bring a clutch purse into the event, provided they are 8” x 5” x 1” or smaller.
