Pirates Announce Hiring Of Miguel Perez As Major League Bullpen Coach

The Pittsburgh Pirates today announced the hiring of Miguel Perez as the organization’s Major League Bullpen Coach.

Perez has spent the last 17 seasons regarded as one of the most respected members of the Pirates organization. Since serving as the manager at Triple-A Indianapolis since 2022, Perez has coached and guided a total of 30 players who have made their Major League debuts with the Pirates during that time. Perez began his career with the Pirates after signing with the team as a minor league free agent on December 17, 2007.

In addition to being instrumental with the growth and development of Oneil Cruz at Triple-A, Perez was also honored with the Chuck Tanner Award during spring training in 2020 (an award given by the Pirates Player Development Department recognizing a minor league staff member who best exemplifies Tanner’s optimism, work ethic, and leadership).

“Miggy is one of the most highly respected members of our player development system who has not only had a meaningful impact on our players but also other managers and coaches throughout the organization,” said Pirates Manager Derek Shelton. “His passion for the organization along with all the other intangibles that he will bring to our staff and players is something that we are excited about at the big league level.”
