Pirates acquire pitcher Austin Davis From Philadelphia

The Pittsburgh Pirates today acquired left-handed pitcher Austin Davis from the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for a player to be named and cash considerations.

The 27-year-old Davis spent a majority of the 2019 campaign with Triple-A Lehigh Valley, where he went 4-1 with a 2.75 ERA (52.1ip/16er), 64 strikeouts and a .224 batting average against in 37 relief appearances while being named to the International League’s mid-season All-Star team. He also had seven separate stints with the Phillies during the 2019 season.

Since making his big league debut with the Phillies in 2018, Davis has gone 1-2 with a 5.86 ERA (58.1ip/38er) and 64 strikeouts in 50 relief appearances. He made four relief appearances for Philadelphia this season before being designated for assignment on August 21.

Davis has gone 18-13 with 10 saves, a 2.99 ERA (319.1ip/106er), 336 strikeouts and .232 batting average against in 174 appearances (13 starts) during his minor league career since being selected in the 12th round of the 2014 First-Year Player Draft by the Phillies. # # #
