Phillies select McKinley Moore, option Yunior Marte
Prior to today’s game, the Phillies selected the contract of right-handed pitcher McKinley Moore from triple-A Lehigh Valley. To make room for Moore on the 26-man roster, right-handed pitcher Yunior Marte was optioned to Lehigh Valley following last night’s game. To make room on the 40-man roster, outfielder Jhailyn Ortiz was designated for assignment.
Moore, 24, made nine appearances for the Phillies in spring training as a non-roster invitee. He allowed one unearned run and posted a 0.00 ERA (9.1 IP) with 11 strikeouts to one walk while posting a 0.64 WHIP (5 H) and holding opponents to a .156 average.
The 6-foot-6 right-hander made one appearance for Lehigh Valley this season, March 31 at Rochester, where he tossed 33 pitches over 2.0 innings and allowed one unearned run on one hit with two walks and one strikeout and was credited with the win. Originally selected by the Chicago White Sox in the 14th round of the 2019 MLB Draft, Moore was acquired by the Phillies in exchange for outfielder Adam Haseley on March 29, 2022.
Ortiz, 24, was signed by the Phillies as an amateur free agent on July 9, 2015.
