Phillies Charities, Inc. announces 2023 community heroes on Giving Tuesday; awards $2.1 million grants to charitable causes
Phillies Charities, Inc., the charitable arm of the Philadelphia Phillies, is proud to announce its 2023 community heroes in honor of Giving Tuesday, celebrating extraordinary area charities who are going above and beyond to provide vital resources to those in need. Collectively, Phillies Charities, Inc. will be awarding $2.1 million in grants so their important work can continue.
Many of the community heroes will be recognized at the team’s Holiday Giving Party on Thursday, November 30, at Citizens Bank Park, as well as honored on-field prior to the game on April 15 against the Colorado Rockies.
“We are honored to award $2.1 million in grants to outstanding organizations who provide much-needed services to our community, thanks to the support of our fans, players and their wives/significant others, front office employees and sponsors,” said Phillies Charities, Inc. President John Weber. “We tip our caps to all of our grant recipients for going above and beyond in helping those who need it most.”
Community heroes (listed below) will each receive a $35,000 grant and are comprised of 37 charitable organizations in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware, as well as near the Phillies minor league affiliates in Clearwater, Reading and Lehigh Valley.
Phillies Charities, Inc. has also awarded a total of $812,000 in grants to various community organizations and non-profits including ALS United Mid-Atlantic, Bethesda Project, Clearwater for Youth, Police Athletic League, Richie Ashburn-Harry Kalas Foundation, Strawberry Mansion Learning Center and the Tug McGraw Foundation, among others.
In addition to Phillies Charities, Inc. awarding grants to community heroes, the club is hosting its Phillies Season of Giving presented by SEI, which includes charitable events throughout Philadelphia and the surrounding area, all aimed at spreading holiday cheer.
