Legends Return for Toyota Phillies Alumni Weekend, August 16-18, Celebrating the 20th Anniversary of Citizens Bank Park
The Phillies and Toyota are hosting a full lineup of fan events that feature on-field ceremonies, special guests, and more during Toyota Phillies Alumni Weekend, August 16-18, at Citizens Bank Park, taking place throughout the series against the Washington Nationals.
More than 40 former players are scheduled to make appearances throughout the weekend festivities (see player listing below). In addition, fans will be able to participate in an online Phillies Charities, Inc. auction featuring signed memorabilia by former and current players at phillies.com/auctions. Custom merchandise celebrating the 20th anniversary at Citizens Bank Park, including polos, t-shirts and novelty items, will also be available at the New Era Phillies Team Store.
Limited tickets for Toyota Phillies Alumni Weekend are available at phillies.com. Fans are encouraged to arrive at the ballpark early and follow the Phillies on social media for updates. Highlights will also be featured on game broadcasts.
LINEUP FOR TOYOTA PHILLIES ALUMNI WEEKEND
FRIDAY, AUGUST 16 - 6:40 p.m. game; Gates open 5:10 p.m.; Broadcast: NBC10.
6:15 p.m., Special Presentation to 2008 World Series Champion Carlos Ruiz, On-field
- Join the Phillies as they tip their caps to one of the greatest catchers in club history, Carlos Ruiz! Taking part in the festivities will be Managing Partner and CEO John Middleton, who will make a special presentation to Chooch in honor of his stellar career. Highlights also include a PhanaVision video celebrating the most memorable moments of Ruiz’s career, all before Chooch throws a ceremonial first pitch.
Other highlights: Rock and Roll Hall of Famer John Oates will sing the national anthem.

Toyota Phillies Wall of Fame Induction Ceremony Honoring David Montgomery, On-field; Live on phillies.com and @phillies social.
- Be in your seats early as Phillies Wall of Famers celebrate the legacy of David Montgomery, former team president and chief executive officer, who will be bestowed with the club’s highest honor for executives as he is posthumously inducted into the Toyota Phillies Wall of Fame.
- Among those taking part will be legends Jim Thome and Larry Bowa, as well as special guests from Montgomery’s storied career, who will be on-field for the special event. Plus, Montgomery’s plaque will be unveiled on the Toyota Phillies Wall of Fame, a tradition that began in 1978 at Veterans Stadium.
- Additional special moments include: a surprise gift to Wall of Famers and the national anthem will be sung by Lila Thome, daughter of Jim Thome.
- The Toyota Phillies Wall of Fame honors Phillies alumni and is located in the Left Field Plaza behind the scoreboard building. Click here to see a listing of former Phillies greats who were past Toyota Phillies Wall of Fame inductees.
ABOUT DAVID MONTGOMERY: A Philadelphia native who spent 48 years rising from ticket office representative to club president and CEO, Montgomery presided over a period of organizational success that included a then-National League record of 257 straight sellouts (2009-2012), as well as five consecutive NL East titles (2007-2011), back-to-back NL pennants (2008-2009) and the 2008 World Series championship.
Among his many accolades, Montgomery was honored by the National Baseball Hall of Fame with the prestigious Buck O’Neil Lifetime Achievement Award in 2020 for his extraordinary efforts to enhance baseball’s positive impact on society. Montgomery passed away after a five-year battle with cancer in May 2019.

- Mike Braxton will represent Toyota and have the honor of throwing a ceremonial first pitch.
- Gio Dipersia will have the honor of changing a base at the end of the 6th inning on behalf of Toyota.

- Arrive to the ballpark early for this must-see on-field salute, as legends from some of the most memorable moments and various eras at Citizens Bank Park take the field to be recognized pregame.
- Participants include Bobby Abreu, Joe Blanton, Ryan Howard, Brad Lidge, Mike Lieberthal, Ryan Madson, Charlie Manuel, Jamie Moyer, Aaron Rowand, Jimmy Rollins, Carlos Ruiz and Jim Thome. Toyota Phillies Wall of Famers and local alumni will also join the festivities.
