Phillies add Castro and Lorenzen to active roster

Prior to tonight’s game against the Miami Marlins, the Phillies added infielder Rodolfo Castro and right-handed pitcher Michael Lorenzen to the active roster. To make room for both players on the 26-man roster, infielder Josh Harrison was designated for assignment yesterday and released today and left-handed pitcher Andrew Vasquez was designated for assignment today. Castro will wear No. 29 and Lorenzen will wear No. 22.

Phillies President of Baseball Operations David Dombrowski made the announcement.

Vasquez, 29, appeared in 30 games for the Phillies this season, going 2-1 with a 2.27 ERA (10 ER, 39.2 IP), 34 strikeouts and 14 walks.

Originally selected by the Minnesota Twins in the 32nd round of the 2015 MLB Draft, the Riverside, Calif., native was claimed by the Phillies off waivers on Nov. 9, 2022.
