Padres announce 2023 spring broadcast schedule
SAN DIEGO – The San Diego Padres today announced their broadcast schedule for 2023 Spring Training presented by Southwest Airlines, featuring all 31 preseason games that will be available to fans via television, radio or audio webcast.
Bally Sports San Diego (BSSD) will deliver 17 games this spring, including 10 live broadcasts and seven simulcasts. The first live broadcast is scheduled for Friday, February 24 when the Padres take on the Seattle Mariners at the Peoria Sports Complex as the home team. The seven simulcast games on BSSD will be produced by Bally Sports Arizona, Bally Sports West, Marquee, Bally Sports Ohio, Bally Sports Wisconsin and Bally Sports Southwest when the Padres face the Arizona Diamondbacks, Los Angeles Angels, Chicago Cubs, Cincinnati Reds, Milwaukee Brewers and Texas Rangers, respectively. Other televised matchups include contests against the Diamondbacks (February 26 in Peoria), Los Angeles Dodgers (February 27 in Peoria), Rangers (March 1 in Peoria), Oakland A’s (March 5 in Peoria), Cincinnati Reds (March 8 in Peoria), San Francisco Giants (March 13 in Peoria), Brewers (March 18 in Peoria) and Kansas City Royals (March 23 in Peoria) before concluding the spring television schedule on Sunday, March 26 when the Padres host the Mariners. Padres play-by-play broadcaster Don Orsillo returns to the booth for all Spring telecasts, with former Padres Mark Grant or Mark Sweeney in the analyst seat. Former MLB pitcher Bob Scanlan will once again provide analysis and reports as part of the broadcasts. All televised Padres games on BSSD will also be available for live streaming on the Bally Sports app.
Complementing Spring Training telecasts, Padres radio broadcasts will continue to be aired on 97.3 The Fan in 2023 and will also be streamed through the Audacy app. The club’s English flagship station will broadcast at least 16 Cactus League games this year, with the first Spring radio broadcast taking place on Friday, February 24 and concluding on Sunday, March 26. Jesse Agler will provide the play-by-play with Tony Gwynn Jr. providing color commentary and analysis.
The Padres will provide a basic video webcast available on www.padres.com for seven games, including contests against the Mariners (March 2, 17 and 27 in Peoria), Cubs (March 3 in Peoria), Guardians (March 15 in Peoria), Chicago White Sox (March 11 in Peoria) and Colorado Rockies (March 21 in Peoria). Additionally, seven audio only webcasts featuring Agler and Gwynn will be available vs. the Giants (February 28 in Scottsdale), Dodgers (March 6 in Glendale), Guardians (March 9 in Goodyear), Royals (March 10 in Surprise), Rockies (March 16 in Scottsdale), Brewers (March 23 in Maryvale) and Angels (March 24 in Tempe). The live video and audio webcasts will be available free-of-charge exclusively on www.padres.com.
