Mets to celebrate Pride Night at Citi Field

FLUSHING, N.Y., June 15, 2023 – On June 16, New York Mets will celebrate the LGBTQ+ community with Pride Night at Citi Field. The seventh annual event will take place before the Mets take on the St. Louis Cardinals at 7:10 p.m. Gates will open to all fans at 5:10 p.m.

Pride Night at Citi Field is a celebration of the many New Yorkers and Mets fans from around the world who are part of the LGBTQ+ community. All night long, the Coca-Cola sign above right field will be illuminated in the colors of the Pride Rainbow flag and in-game programming will be focused on celebrating the LGBTQ+ community. A rainbow balloon wall will be installed at the top of the Jackie Robinson Rotunda to welcome fans as they enter the gates.

In addition, all fans in attendance will receive an exclusive Mets Pride Hand Fan, presented by Justworks.

The Amazin’ Mets Foundation will honor SAGE during a special pregame ceremony as that night’s Community Hero. SAGE is a national advocacy and services organization that has been looking out for LGBTQ+ elders since 1978.

Matt Rogers, a comedian best known for co-hosting the podcast Las Culturistas with Bowen Yang, will throw out the first pitch. The National Anthem will be performed by Jan Sport, a drag performer who is a lifelong Mets fan and has appeared in season 12 of “RuPaul's Drag Race” and season six of “RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars.” During the seventh inning stretch, Bryan Ruby will perform “Take Me Out to the Ball Game.” Ruby, a country singer, is a founder of Proud to Be in Baseball, a non-profit organization dedicated to advocacy, education, and providing resources for the next generation of LGBTQ baseball players.

Friday night is also DJ Night at Citi Field. Ty Sunderland will be that night’s guest DJ. Sunderland, a popular DJ based in NYC, is well-known for his sets at Pride events worldwide.

Fans can also receive a limited-edition Mets Pride hat by purchasing tickets here. A donation of $5 from each ticket purchased through the link will go to the LGBT Network. The Mets and LGBT Network have partnered to bring New Yorkers Pride Night at Citi Field since 2016.
