Los Angeles NL Division Series roster substitution approved
Major League Baseball announced today that it has approved a roster substitution for the Los Angeles Dodgers due to an injury sustained by right-handed pitcher Michael Grove. As a result, Grove will be replaced by right-handed pitcher Ben Casparius on Los Angeles’ roster vs. the San Diego Padres in the National League Division Series presented by Booking.com. Dr. Gary Green, MLB’s Medical Director, confirmed the injury after a full review of the medical information.
MLB Postseason rules provide that a Club may request permission from the Commissioner’s Office to replace a player who is unable to play because of an injury. The Commissioner’s Office may approve or disapprove the request based on the specific facts and circumstances. In accordance with the rules, Grove will be ineligible to return in the National League Championship Series presented by loanDepot if the Dodgers participate, but he would be eligible to return for the World Series presented by Capital One if Los Angeles qualifies.
All games telecast on TNT Sports platforms, FOX and FS1 will be available to MLB.TV subscribers who are authenticated subscribers to the applicable network through a participating pay TV provider. ESPN Radio will provide live national coverage of all 2024 MLB Postseason games. MLB Network will have extensive studio coverage throughout the Postseason, including its Emmy Award-winning MLB Tonight airing live before and after every game.
