Legendary broadcast Steve Stone signs multiyear agreement to continue as White Sox TV analyst

CHICAGO – The Chicago White Sox announced a multiyear deal with veteran broadcaster Steve Stone, continuing in his long-standing role as a nationally recognized analyst for the club.

A 2023 Ford Frick Award finalist and award-winning analyst, Stone begins his 18th season as a White Sox broadcaster in 2025, working a more limited game schedule.

“I wanted to sign a long-term contract that would ensure I will spend the rest of my career with the Chicago White Sox,” said Stone. “I have spent almost the entirety of my time in baseball in Chicago, first as a player and now as a broadcaster. Throughout all this time, I have viewed the White Sox as my family, and I just want to spend my days with the people who I consider to be members of my family.”

“Steve is recognized as one of the best in the business, and we are so fortunate to have the White Sox be his home,” said Brooks Boyer, White Sox Chief Revenue and Marketing Officer. “His expertise and presence in the booth add depth and knowledge to every broadcast. Steve is treasured by White Sox fans, and we look forward to many more seasons of the iconic Steve Stone on the White Sox broadcast.”

In 2022, Stone celebrated 40 seasons in broadcasting. The 2015 Ring Lardner Award Winner for Excellence in Sports Journalism spent a decade in the television booth with fan-favorite former White Sox broadcaster Ken “Hawk” Harrelson. Prior to joining the White Sox broadcast team, he spent 20 seasons on the Chicago Cubs broadcast team working with Hall of Famer Harry Caray, and later, Caray’s grandson, Chip. During the 2008 season, Stone also provided color commentary on the White Sox Radio Network alongside Ed Farmer.

The 1980 Cy Young Award winner pitched in the majors from 1971-1981, including three seasons (1973, ’77-78) with the White Sox.

Stone will continue to work alongside White Sox play-by-play announcer John Schriffen on Chicago Sports Network (CHSN), the new TV home for the Chicago Blackhawks, Bulls and White Sox starting October 1. The first regular-season White Sox telecast on CHSN will be on March 27, 2025, Opening Day vs. the Angels.
